Abstract Art

The abstract side of my practice grew later in my life, when university opened my mind to more conceptual, performative, and process-based approaches to art. However at the core of my abstract works are many of the same themes as in my other works: nature and the sublime.

Most recently, my abstract works have been a medium through which I explore the ephemeral beauty of nature, and the fragility of our natural world. Sun-kissed clouds at sunset. Morning mist over rugged hills. The last whisper of autumn. The last bloom of spring.

Much of this work I think of as abstract eco-romanticism - which I feel encapsulates the abstraction, environmental motivation, and romanticist approach to these works.
